I recently installed a new ATI RADEON 9250 PCI graphics card. I've been
running an INTEL 845G intregrated driver on a DIMENSION 2350 for about 2
years but with SIMS2 now need T&L capability. After working thru some minor
setup problems I got the RADEON running OK. After completing the SIMS2
installation I got a "cannot find Direct X 9.0 error" Ran the dxdiag
program and the Direct3D 9 test result said the display driver doesn't
support API (DDI version too low (7 )). In the device identifier line was
the following statement. " Could not initialize Direct3D v9. This program
was compiled with header files that do not match the installed Direct X DLLS"
Iv'e attempted to renstall DirectX 9.0c several times but the installation
always fails with the error message "cannot copy a necessary file" I've
updated both the ATI and the Intel display drivers and changed the CMOS
setting so that the ATI device is the primary. I don't have any flags or
anomalies in the device manager, have talked to ATI tech support (said to
reinstall the drivers after turning off the anti virus software). Problem
still unsolved. I'm looking for ideas even answers; if anyone has any I'll
be waiting here ...........homefront49
