direct X 9.0c help

i really need help. i download the Direct X 9.0c and run it after its
installed, then i reset the computer and when i go to play something it says
the graphic system needs Dicret X 9.0c. Am i installing ti wrong?

Your system might be too old and does not support 9.0c... what kind of
hardware (processor/video card/OS) are you using?
