I am trying to connect a laptop runnig XP with a desktop
running 98 using direct cable connection through LPT1
port. The 98 machine is the host and the XP machine is
guest. I can make the connection, but the XP machine
cannot find/see the C drive (or anything) on the 98 host
machine. What am I missing?

You can use Standard, Extended Capabilities Port (ECP),
or Universal Cable Modele (UCM) parallel cables> Windows
98 setup does not install Direct Cable Connection during
setup, unless you select the custom or portable setup
type. You can install Direct Cable Connection at any
time after setup.

In Contro Panel dbl click add/remove programs and then
Windows Setup tab.
In the componenets ist, click communications and the
details.
Click direct cable connection then click OK .
thats it. To share resources over direct cable
connection, you install direct cable connection and share
folders and printers in the same way you would with other
local or remote network users.

I have installed direct connect on the 98 machine. I
can successfully connect the xp machine to the 98
machine, but I cannot get to the files on the 98
machine????
