Rob

I bought a game (Art of Magic) which fails to start due to
a Direct 3D driver problem.

Apparently, my graphics driver is out date (has too low a
DDI number.)

Do I need a new piece of kit, or can this be fixed with a
software patch of some kind?

test result details are below.

Direct 3D Test Results: Display driver does not support
API (DDI number too low.)

Main driver: macxw4.drv

Version: 4.10.0001.2436 (English)

Mini VDD: macxw4.vxd

VDD: *vdd, *vflatd

DDI version: 5

Many thanks for any help/advice anyone might have.

Gratefully

Hello

Sounds like you may need to purcahse yourself a more
up to date video card

What is the make/model of your current video card? Usually, by upgrading to
the latest software drivers, this problem may be fixed. However, some older
video card do not have active driver support.

The video card is an ATIXpert98 AGP 2X

Does that need replacement, or is there a software patch
for it?

cheers
