How so? How many of each models have you used?

Nikon is a long time Camera and Scanner manufacturer, their products are
well supported and have a long history of use.

I had a Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV which died after a little over one year,
it lasted just long enough to get out of warranty.

Check the comments on Google Groups. Search string "dimage 5400" no quotes.

You will find many comparisons to Nikon scanners, most people bought the
5400 because of the price difference, not because of superior quality.

The Dimage 5400 II is soon to be an orphan. Minolta has already given the
service department over to Sony.

It is your choice. You can choose a scanner that may or may not give you
long and reliable service, or you can choose a scanner from a company that
backs up their product.

You can find cheap scanners on the web if that is what you want. (not that
the 5400 II is cheap).

This is probably the worst film scanner currently available.

And this the best consumer scanner anywhere.
