Digitizing analog video

Would like to dump my old VHS home movies into my PC running XPsp2. Using a
Firwire Pyro external converter to digitize.

Problem: Analog video feed can be interuppted when Windows steps away to
mutli-task. Frames dropped are gone forever and the digitized video is jumpy.

Questions: Is there a way to create separate startup menu that would run a
bare minimum of drivers, etc., to minimize the effect of this multi-tasking?
If so, what would that bare minimum consist of?

Thanks in advance.

Dave,
Try your Startup tab in MSCONFIG, I think in WinXP you can choose
"Diagnostic Startup" and select the checkbox to load only the critical
Win drivers. You could also enter Setup when you boot and select the
drivers you want loaded manually.

Curt in Burlington :)
