I just purchased a digital camera and am trying to get it
set up on my computer, but it says that I need to have a
CD. The computer did not come with one. What is the
next step that I need to take? There are no directions
with the camera. Thanks for any input.

Often, simply plugging the camera into a USB port on the computer - THEN
turning on the camera - will pop up a new drive letter in Windows
Explorer. Under that drive the image files on the camera will be listed.
They can be copied, moved, etc., in the usual manner.

An inexpensive alternative is to purchase a card reader for the type of
storage card the camera uses. It also plugs into the USB port and shows
up as a drive letter. Just slip the camera card into the reader. Saves
on camera batteries too.

As for image manipulation, several free high quality programs are
available, so the CD that came with the camera - which likely contains a
simply image program - need not be loaded. Check out...

What do you mean, the "computer" didn't come with one. Do you reall
mean the "camera" didn't come with one?

If there are zero directions included in the box with the camera, then
you'll have to do some research on your own. See if the manufacturer
has a website (google is your friend). If so, they probably have
drivers for your camera/OS combination, and often will have
instructions for how to install it all.

Most retail stores remove CDs and manuals so that
shoplifters can't as easily use or sell the stolen items.
Which street corner "dealer" sold you the camera?

I can guarantee you that if I got home after puchasing anything from a
retailer, only to discover they had "removed" something from the box,
not only will they refund 100% of my money but I will never shop there
again. Ever.

I should have said they remove items from the displayed
items. When sold, you get a box from a locked cabinet or
such.
