digital camera problems

have tried samsung and h.p. digital cameras. windows xp
home. will not recognize camera as a removable storge
device in my computer. have re-installed mfr cdrom
software. hardware device manager says all o.k. but no
camera in my computer, or windows explorer. h.p. thinks
it is an o.s. issue but no fix. any ideas anyone?

Since I don't have either of those cameras, I don't have a definitive
answer for you, but have you considered just using a card reader? These
little usb devices are inexpensive (mine was around $30) and easy to
use - basically you just plug them into a usb port and Windows sees
them as a removable drive. Just be sure the one you buy is compatible
with the type of memory card in your camera.
