Difficulty with importing PST file from Outlook 2003

I recently changed jobs and prior to returning my laptop (at the earlier
firm), I exported some mail from Outlook 2003 to a PST file. When I tried to
import the PST at the new place using Outlook 2003, I get an error 'The
file... is not a personal folders file.'. I can't remember, but may have
copied the exported PST file from the hard disk to a CD while Outlook was
still running. I was told that Outlook needs to be shutdown prior to copying
such files. Is there any way I can import this PST file or open it as an
additional PST file? Please help. Thanks a million.

Probably not, but you can the known tools for recovering PST's.
If the Inbox Repair Tool fails to repair the PST file, you can use the
following tool to find out what can be fixed:

Note that this is one of the many reasons you should never export a PST
file. Just copy it.
