Difficulty Switching Profiles

R

Robbie

I have set-up 7 different profiles within Outlook 2007. They all receive
their respective mails when each profile is accessed. However Outlook
frequently does not prompt for which profile I wish to use even though I
have set
PROMPT FOR A PROFILE TO BE USED within the MAIL settings in CONTROL PANEL.
It simply goes straight in to the last profile used without prompting.

Re-starting Windows Vista makes Outlook prompt again when opening for the
first time. I know that a RUN line command can also be entered which will
open the correct profile, but this also does not work with Outlook opening
to the last profile used. This all happens on a new install of Vista and
Office 2007, as you can imagine.

I cannot find any reference to this problem on the internet which suggest to
me I have overlooked something.

ANY suggestions would be gratefully received,

THANK YOU,

Robert Boettcher

You have to go into the properties of each profile and ensure it's not using
NT authentication. Tell it to use None instead.
Do this from the mail applet in the control panel. Click on Profiles so it
lists everyone you've set up.

Kathleen,

THANK YOU for your reply and insight.

The profiles are set-up using POP3 Mail and not on Microsoft Exchange Server
as this is a stand alone PC. Is disabling NT authentication still the likely
cause as it appears to be part of the Microsoft Exchange Server setup.
If it is still likely to be NT authentication can you tell me where this
setting can be changed exactly.

Or is the fact I am using multiple profiles with POP3 the problem.

Thank you again for your help.

If anyone has an answer to this problem please post it here. I am
having the same problem trying to switch between profiles. When I
configure Outlook to prompt for a profile it will only prompt about
25% of the time; the rest of the time it just opens with the most
recently used profile. I've tried using the /profile switch both from
the run line and in a shortcut and I have the same problem - about 25%
of the time it will open the correct profile and the rest of the time
it just opens the most recently used one.

I'm running Vista 64-bit with Outlook 2007.
