difficult reading data cds

Greetings,

My DVD and CDRW both have a difficult time reading data CD's (I don't use
Music CD's).

I've pulled both to check that the jumpers were OK and replaced the IDE
Cable, but no help.

I'm using XP Home sp1.

Any suggestions?

Hi Kram,

Use a CD drive lens cleaner lately? Any commercial product will do.

It was a dirty CD, after I cleaned it everything was, fine, plus I cleaned
the lens.

I gotta start learning to do the simple stuff first, before I take
everything apart.
