Well, I did a search and read about 20-60 post regarding Add/Remove...still no solution. I did notice a few post that pertained exactly to my issue, although no response for a solution :(

" Setup was unable to open information file netoc.inf
Contact your system administrator. The specific error code is 0x2 at line 2011777033"

- I am admin
-I tried to google the error code = nothing
-I went to Microsoft and did a search = nada
-I installed the Service Pack = nada
- I can prolly go in safe mode but that sawks..I dont want to keep going in safe mode

Try extracting this file netoc.inf from XP CD and place it in %Windir%\inf folder.

OK, I did that and nothing..grrrr
Before I read your post I decided to try something else. I inserted the CD and entered the CMD.
I entered : EXPAND -R D:\I386\IIS.IN_ C:\Windows\Inf
(D: Is where Xp Pro is installed)

I kept getting an error, so I replaced "C:" with "F:"
Here is the output:
expanding f:\I386\iis.inf.
f:\i386\iis.in_ : 78634 bytes expanded to 834516 bytes, 961 % increase.
Can't open input file: c:\windows\inf

I restarted and tried it again = nothing

ok, So now I tried your method and I did a search w/in the CD. I looked for "netoc.inf = nothing found??? So I did a search for just " netoc" and I found two files names "netoc.in_ & netoc.DL_" within the I386 folder (Note: I did copy my I386 folder to my Windows XP a while ago).

Why is the netoc.inf named netoc.in_ ?

Some more hints that I think I should mention:
I do have a dual boot O/S -
C: Win2k Pro
D: CDRW
E: DVD Burner
F: Win Xp Pro
G: Win2k extra storage
H: Winxp extra storage
( I have a 200GB HD )

I have Win XP Pro Full Retail Version (not sure if that is any use)

BTW: thanks for the quick reply.

Everything will be in a compressed form, in the XP CD (denoted by the _)

Expand X:\i386\NETOC.IN_ -r C:\Windows\Inf

again, thanks for the quick reply.
Well, I entered:

(note: "^" is where I made a space, not sure if I made an incorrect space)
EXPAND^F:\i386\NETOC.IN_^-r^C:\Windows\Inf

Output:
expanding f:\i386\netoc.in_ to f:\i386\netoc.inf.
f:\i386\netoc.in_: 2360 bytes expanded to 8629 bytes, 265% increase.
can't open input file : c:\windows\inf.

I keep getting that output:
can't open input file : c:\windows\inf.

So I replaced "C:\Windows\Inf" with F:\Windows\Inf and everything was the same except for "can't open input file : c:\windows\inf." was not listed.

Could this be it?..lol I am going to restart and see if it work.

Yes. The reason I mentioned %windir% in a multi-boot configuration really helps. The drive-letters which I mentioned were the examples (say X:\ for CD-ROM Drive, C:\ (usually for a single-boot configuration).
