Dialup won't work with network card installed

Is there anyway to make a dialup connection work with a network card installed? Neither my ISP nor the card tech support people can figure out how to make my dialup connection communicate with a Ethernet card installed in my desktop. I can connect and my password and username are verified, but my browser and email seem to be walled off from the connection.

Thanks

Why does the dial up connection need to talk to the ethernet card? I have a
DSL and a dial up and it works independent of each other. But I recently a
problem similar to yours. My internet connection would connect (both DSL and
dial up) but not browser or email. I had a backdoor virus which deprived
service to browser and email. Jym
