dialup pops up VERY often

My daughter has dialup access to her ISP. She has just
upgraded to XP. She gets a dialup popup "often", sometimes
every five minutes or so. This occurs when she
is "officially" offline working with Word or other Office
applications. She does not use Outlook or any other e-mail
client. What does she need to shut off to stop this
anoying activity? Does it have something to do with
Instant Messenger?

This happened to me all the time with my MSN dial up I had
installed on my XP laptop. I finally stopped it by
clicking tools> internet options, about half way down you
can choose never dial a connection. Hope this helps.
