Dialog Fonts Issue: Revisited

Hey All

Ok so I've spent a good deal of time browsing the archives from the embedded
newsgroups and I'm still having an issue with dialog boxes.

The first issue was that all dialog boxes displayed the incorrect fonts.
Before anyone prematurely says that I don't have a font installed.... I have
the MAX font component included from the XPE Dev Center's Lots of Fonts
component. I manually included all sans serif fonts. I also have the DPI
96, 120 and International Control Panel Components included. The vga drivers
are correctly installed and are working properly.

So, as a suggestion from another post, I tried deleting all values except
default in the FontSubstitutes Key. That cleared up one of the dialog
issues. However, in popup boxes it still displays the wrong font. It is
definately the "System" Font, with the exception that the "D" displays as
"#". It should obviously be displaying the Sans Serif font.

I should also say that it does display correctly on an XP Pro Machine.

Can anyone suggest any fixes or test methods to analyze this issue?

Hi Mark,

I have had a similar problem. I solved the problem by including the
'System Fonts' component in the image. The component can be downloaded
from xpefiles.com (search for the component 'sysfonts').

For people who have similar problems here was my solution.

Delete all entries in the FontSubstitutes Key with the exception of the
default value.
(HKLM/Software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/FontSubstitutes

Add SystemFonts components from xpefiles.com

Enjoy!

Hi Mark,
When you say "delete all entries in the key etc." do you mean in one of the
components in your configuration, or do you mean after you've gone thru FBA
and booted your target and then run RegEdit ?
Thanks
Jack
