Dialing problems using MS Fax

I am trying to use FAX console in conjuction with Outlook address book and am
having some dialing problems. It works fine if the phone number is an area
code different than our own. However, dialing fails whenever the phone
number selected from Outlook is the same area code as ours.
Listening to the modem, I can hear that the area code and phone number are
being dialed and this is causing the failure. I have tried sending with and
without dialing properties, and have also tried with and without setting the
modem dialing properties, with the same results.

Do you have any other suggestion?

For the local faxes, have you tried without using the area code?
