Dialing into a PC using DSL

Frank A. Avila

I am trying to dial into another computer to exchange a
couple of large files. First off I need to know if it
possible to use DSL to dial from one PC to another that
also has DSL.

I know about PCAnywhere but I do not want to control the
desktop of the other PC. I have used a 56k to dial into
computers to download files. I am using Windows XP on
both of the computers and both have DSL.

If it is possible to set up windows to dial in using a
dsl line please let me know how because I have been
racking my brain on it. And if there is some other
software that is available please let me know.

Thanks,

Well the only way I know of doing this the way you want is
if the other desktop is running an FTP and you have Write
permissions to it...otherwise I would say use the 'Remote
Desktop' utility inside Windows XP. Navigate to Start->
All Programs-> Accessories-> Communications-> Remote
Desktop Connection...youll need to know the username and
password of the user on the computer that you're
connecting to. If the other computer is behind a router,
you'll need to forward port 3389...Hope this helps!
