Dial-up stops working in Windows XP

Hello:

For some reason my dial-up connection stopped working.
Allow me to explain the situation:

I can connect to my ISP, the problem is when I try to use
any program, such as IE6, Outlook, or an FTP program.
These programs can't send/receive data, so in IE6 it says
the page cannot be displayed, in Outlook my servers get
errors (timed out), and Smart FTP can't find the host.

This is horrible! I have no idea what has happened, it
just started today, and nobody has been using the computer
in the past day or installed new programs. I have access
to the internet through a friend in order to find help,
but my work software is on the computer and I desperately
need to get back into it!

Thanks.

Dammit, you just posted this a few minutes ago. Be patient - this isn't
Microsoft tech support. See my answer to your previous post. Keep posts
threaded.
