Dial Up Problem

W

Will-Way

I use xp home and a 56k modem on a new Dell 2400. Everything was
working okay until my ISP issued a new dial in phone number. I changed
it on the pc. Since then whatever tel no or user account I use (all
with the same iSP) I cannot connect. I have tried these accounts on
other pcs and they are working fine so it's not the tel nos, accounts
or ISP.

What happens is that I hear the dial tone, the modem dials and shrieks
as it ususally does but then disconnects the line at some point during
the verifying process. I'm getting an error message saying check
username, password or domain.

I have tried these accounts on other pcs and they are working fine so
it's not the accounts or ISP. I have deleted all the accounts and
started from scratch to no avail. I have put in and taken out dns
settings, caps ARE off, there is no call waiting etc.

Any ideas most welcome.

Have you tried it with another PC from the same location - using the same
phone connection? Does it work?
