Dial-up in XP Pro not available?! HELP!!!

Hello everybody, this is my problem... uh... I mean... challenge:
I upgraded to Windows XP Pro from Windows 2000 Pro. I installed m
ISP, Netzero (don't think that really matters) for dial-up, newes
version. It won't even start dialling as if modem wasn't there.
Modem IS detected by Windows however (Can see it in device Manager - n
generics). Even when I query it, it responds, no problems.
However...
1. ISP program WON'T recognize modem.
2. In Internet Options, when I try to add a Dial-Up Setting, it give
me that 711 error message: Cannot load Remote Access Service Manage
bla bla bla...", and "There was an error in configuration for Win X
bla bla..."
3. Even in Network Settings and Connections, I don't even get an
icons for TCP/IP, I don't have the option of creating a dial-u
service.
This is what I've done:
1. Uninstalled/re-installed modem.
2. Uninstalled/re-installed ISP
3. Have gone to Manager, and in the Settings tree, tried to star
Telephony, and set to automatic which went OK, but when I tried t
start all the Remote Access settings, either I got an error message, o
one saying access is denied (?!?!?!).
4. Went into Regedit and modified this key:
HKEY_LOCAL-MACHINE\HARDWARE\SYSTEM\Current Control Set
Services\RasMan\PPP\EAP and deleted all the numbers except 13 and 4.
5. Tried re-loading XP over present one again.
I don't think I have any service packs installed, I have Win XP Pr
Version 2002, but my XP copy didn't come with any SP's that I know of.
Should I try to find somebody who's got SP1 or SP1a, or should I jus
back up my HD re-format and full-install? I have about 28 days t
activate XP, and if I don't get on the net, I'll be forced to forma
the damn thing!
I'd better stop now before I make this into a novel!
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance
