Dial-up connection very unstable (multiple ISPs so must be me) and Event Error relating to IPNATHLP

An intermittent fault but very annoying. I am using a modem dial-up
connection on a standalone PC to connect to the internet.

Occasionally my dial-up just dies on me. I am still connected but data stops
flowing.

I am also getting the following System Event being logged quite a lot:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: ipnathlp
Event Category: None
Event ID: 31012
Date: 02/10/2003
Time: 00:56:37
User: N/A
Computer: MYCOMPUTER
Description:
The DNS proxy agent encountered an error while obtaining the local list of
name-resolution servers. Some DNS or WINS servers may be inaccessible to
clients on the local network. The data is the error code.
Data:
0000: e8 00 00 00 è...

Anyone got any idea what this is about or how to fix it.

I have searched the MSKB and can't find any reference either to the error
number or IPNATHLP. I have also done a google search and come up blank
(there are a few references to IPNATHLP but not the specific error I am
getting).

This is really annoying - any help to get it sorted out without resorting to
a reinstall would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Carol

Carol - Google for "31012 ipnathlp" no quotes, lots of hits. One in
particular:
<http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=31012>
may be of some help indirectly; others may be better.

Another hit site says "if you're not on a network disable 'Client for
Microsoft Networks'."

ipnathlp is the network address translator...

Thanks - got it sorted out in the end by removing Internet Connection
Sharing which had somehow got enabled.
