Dial Modem problems

Please help me with my modem problem It takes forever for my modem to connect
to the internet because of errors. And when i fianally do it usually
disconnects with a couple of minutes. Ive looked on some pretty useful
webpages and followed some instructions but nothing seems to help. Im using a
pci hsf conexant modem. I heard this modem aint the best but it cant be that
bad!
