DHCP server question

Does XP Pro actually have a DHCP server running? I am somewhat confused. I
have 4 PCs all running XP Pro. One is acting soley as my internet gateway
and has my broadband modem connected to it. It has Internet Connection
Sharing set up on it and all the other PCs are configured to use the
internet connection on the gateway. They are all also configured to obtain
an IP address and DNS server automatically. The gateway is configured with a
static IP address.

My problem is that I've been trying to add a Sun Ultra 5 to the network and
get it to use DHCP but it keeps reporting that it can't find a DHCP server.
So when I started looking more closely at the gateway, I saw that there
doesn't appear to be a DHCP server service running - only a client. I also
tried installing the 2003 adminpack on the gateway machine and that also
tells me that the DHCP Server service is not running. I'm confused -
something MUST be allocating IP addresses to the XP machines, so is there a
DHCP server running on my gateway, and if so, where is it hidden? If not,
how are the IP addresses being allocated?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards
Emilio

from a non-server, try dhcploc.exe - see what it reports?
