DHCP Server does nor respond

I setup DHCP on a WIN Server2003, SP1, simple, single scope, ip of router,
dns server, two reservations and a pool of 100 addressess. Same as I had on
the Netware server I am trying to retire. After authorizing the service and
then activating the scope it does not respond to clients, all XP, SP2.
Worked fine on a test server with a workstation.

Scope indicates "Active" status but clients return message that a DHCP
server cannot be found. IPCONFIG /RENEW retrurns message that a DHCP server
cannot be found. Its there and its the domain controller and DNS server
also and DNS works fine.
What am I doing wrong. I unloaded dhcpserver.nlm on the NW server first.

Hi Dave,

What do your DHCP logs state? Is the server seeing the requests?

Also, I've noticed Windows 'caches' DHCP server info - so an ipconfig /renew
will attempt to connect to the previous server. A restart of the workstation
usually allows Windows to use the new DHCP server.

Jeff,

yes, the restart worked where the /renew did not

Doing "/release" before "/renew" probably would have also worked.
