DHCP registration in DNS

P

Peter

Anyone who can tell me in which DNS-server, the DHCP
server will registre the DHCP-clients A and PTR record.
Is it the first DNS in the clients scope or is it the
DHCP servers own DNS server. The DHCP and DNS are
installed on the same windows 2000 server

Thanks

It will try to register them on the fist dns server listed as the clients dns
preferred server. This is one reason why in an AD domain that an ISP dns server must
never be listed as a preferred dns server for a domain computer - event tenth in the
list. Once the records are dynamically registered in an AD integrated zone the
records will be replicated via AD replication to the other domain controllers. ---
