Swapping dhcp range

P

Paul K

i had a win2k sp4 dhcp server on 192.168.10.1. Its was set
up to dish out addresses on this range succesfully. I have
recently created a new range\scope on this server -
194.227.11.0. I have changed the ip address of dhcp server
to 194.227.11.1. I have de-activated the 192.168.10.0
scope. I have activated the 194.227.11.0 scope, yet still
the clients refuse to pick the new address. Tried
ipconfig /renew - says dhcp server can't be found. Also
tried reebooting clients to no avail. Help.

Why are you moving from a RFC Private IP Range to a Public ISP Assigned IP
Range?

You may have to remove (uninstall) the DHCP Service from the machine, then
reinstall it.

These ip address are being used in a test environment and
are totally internal. It's not the first time i've heard
that i might have to unistall dhcp and re-install, how
rubbish is that!!!!!.

Have you tried using IPCONFIG /RELEASE prior to IPCONFIG /RENEW?
