What Mac OS version are you running. If you're running OS X Jaguar, have
you enabled connections to Windows networks on it? Also -- and this is a
big one -- check your network settings on the machine by going to the
System Configuration section and clicking on the Networking applet.

Mind you, I'm only speaking for OS X here.

(I'm assuming, of course, that there are no hardware issues on your
Macs' network connections -- i.e., NICs, cables, RJ-45 ports, etc.)

Hi Cesar!

Can you elaborate on what you're seeing or not seeing that leads you to
believe your Macs are not being provided d domain name?

Also...

1.) Have you configured DHCP to provide the domain name?
2.) Do your Macs have anything entered into the Search Domains field in
their TCP/IP preferences?

Hi Cesar!

I'm still not sure I understand how you're determining that the Macs aren't
being provided a domain name. What problem are you seeing?

The search domain fields in the TCP/IP Preferences (Mac OS 9) or Network
settings (Mac OS X) has never been filled in with the domain information on
any version of Mac OS that I've seen, however if I consult my Windows 2003
server running DHCP, my Macs come back with the fully qualified domain name
mymac.mydomain.com.

If you're having name resolution problems with your Macs but not with your
PCs and you're running WINS, be sure that WINS isn't actually resolving what
you expect DNS to be resolving.

Hope this helps! bill
