is there a way to force a computer not to get an IP
address from a dhcp server, assume i know the mac address
and the name of the workstation, and i want this
particular pc not to get an ip address from my Microsoft
based DHCP server.

the workstation is win2000, and the server is 2000
advanced server, running DHCP and is a DOmain controller
as well...

any ideas?

Mike,

Do not use DHCP assigned IP addressing information for the client - just
hard code the address, or am I missing something here?
If you don't want to use DHCP for a client then don't.

I'm sorry for the confusion...however, I want to use DHCP, I have over 1000
computers that are getting addresses from the DHCP. I want one pc to be
disconnected from the network, and I don't want to physically shut it down,
or physically disconnect them from the network.

I just want to make sure this computer does not get an address from my dhcp
server, by defining the pc's mac address or netbios name...

Is this more helpful?
