DHCP, DNS related question?

I have a WinNT PDC with DHCP, WINS and local DNS Server running. This was
setup by me few years ago and I don't remember much about it.

I don't think the DNS service is really doing anything. So far we had a ms
proxy server so we did not need DNS (internet) settings on LAN workstations.

Now, I am installing a hardware firewall and I need each workstation to know
which Internet DNS servers to use for being able to browse the internet.

On my PDC, in DHCP settings, if I add the DNS entries of our ISP's primary &
secondary DNS servers will it mess up anything internally - mainly computer
names?

I guess, I am just making sure that DNS has nothing to do with assigning
NETBIOS computer names on a LAN? Right?

P.S. Yes, I will upgrade my servers to Win2000 in the near future.

No, it should not break things. BUT if you are going to Win2000/Active
Directory in the near future, you *will* need an internal DNS server.

You will have to configure your clients to use your internal DNS and
prevent any other DNS getting in on the act. Your internal DNS *only*
should be configured to forward DNS requests for outside resources to
an outside DNS.
