Open a command prompt, (or even the RUN field), and type

chkdsk /f

Hit enter and a message will appear, "Windows can't run chkdsk now, do you
want to run chkdsk at next boot.. Y/N", or something to that effect.
Hit Y, enter again, then restart your computer and chkdsk will run. The /f
switch tells it to fix file errors.

This isn't normally a problem, but it might pay to have your files backed
up. If there is a particularly bad problem with your file structure windows
may not boot. I have never had that problem and I don't want to overstate
the risk, but it exists none the less.

After chkdsk has finished and you are back in Windows, go into Event Viewer
and look under Application. Look for the last entry under Source called
Winlogon. Double click on this entry and you can see the results of the disk
check.

In the BIOS there is Wake on LAN, and Wake on BIOS timer as for

To get to the BIOS, restart the computer and press the Del key
repeatedly till you enter Setup. It doesn't have to be the Delete key;
it can be F1, F2, Esc, or whatever, depending on your motherboard. Many
times you'll see a notice upon Startup, "Press __ to enter Setup".

Once there, you can't use the mouse. you have to use the cursor keys,
and the other keys mentioned at the bottom of the screen to maneuver
through the menu pages.
