Hello Again William,
I have successfully downloaded and installed the AutoStreamer from the
web
site you provided. However, it needs me to give it the file name for
the
Service Pack 2 file to merge with my XP cd. Where do I find this file.
I
think this was originally installed from the MS web page so I don't
have a
copy of the file used for installation and I don't know exactly which
file
it
needs. Can you help me with this as well.
I'm sorry to be such a pain but until I can get this device manager
working
properly I think I will continue to have problems with this system.
Once again your help is sincerely appreciated.
Regards,
Maverick (Pete)
:
Maverick,
Does the Windows XP CD have service pack 2 included or did you have to
install service pack 2 from Windows Update?
If you installed Service Pack 2 then you will need to create a
slipstreamed
(integrated) Windows XP CD with Service Pack.
Here is a guide on how to slipstream the Windows XP CD with
AutoStreamer.
http://www.simplyguides.net/guides/using_autostreamer/using_autostreamer.shtml
Here is a manual way of slipstreaming the Windows XP CD with SP2:
Slipstreaming Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Create Bootable CD

If you can make this CD then please try again to run "sfc /scannow".

Hello Again William,
Well I have good news and bad news. The good news is my CD drive
now
works.
The bad news is my device manager does not. I am prompted to insert
my
XP
installation disk in the CD drive to copy files to my hard drive.
The
computer will not read the installation CD to copy the files,
however,
the
CD
launches when I close the drive door and would allow me to run the
full
install program. I have also used this CD (Original Version from
MS)
in
the
past whenever I was installing additional hardware or updating my
existing.
It has always worked when I needed it to except for now. I tried
cleaning
it, and a visual inspection revealed no obvious
flaws in the media so I'm at a loss as to why the CD is not being
recognized.
Do you have any further words of wisdom for me on this matter?
Best Regards,
Maverick (Pete)
:
Maverick,
Download the following fix to your Desktop. Double-click
"cd_fix.cmd"
to
remove the registry entry. You will need to restart your computer
manually.
http://www.lprf.ca/files/batch/cd_fix.cmd
Note: You can view the contents of the file by right-clicking to
select
Edit.
If your CD drive now works then try to run the System File Checker.
Type
the
following in the Run dialog box or Command Prompt:
sfc /scannow
Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File
Checker
(Sfc.exe)

Sorry about the name screw up William,
I have uninstalled Easy CD Creator and attempted to access the kb
file
using
the link you provided. I'm getting a message saying that page is
not
available.
So, while I am not a computer novis, my computer skills and
knowledge
is
nothing
compaired to yours. So if you can create that little batch file
for
me
I
will use it.
Thank you for your continued support.
Best Regards,

:
Maverick,
My name is not Ramesh. I thought I would mention this since you
have
been
calling me Ramesh.
Please type the following in the Run dialog box:
c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386
Does a window appear?? If it does then find "devmgr.dll" and
copy
the
file
to:
c:\windows\system32
Without your CD drive not working, you are limited to what you
can
do.
Has
your CD drive, recently quit working? You may want to look at
the
KB
article
and your CD drive may function.
CD-ROM access is missing and messages cite error code 31, code
32,
code
19,
code 39, or code 41 after you remove Easy CD Creator in Windows
XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314060
If you are unsure what to do, please use the guided help in the
KB
article
to perform these steps for you. I could also automate this for
you
by
creating a batch file to delete the appropriate keys. Please let
me
know.

Hello Again Ramesh,
Thanks again for your help. I can't get my computer to
recognize
my
cd
drive so I can't use it to install the windows xp components
required.
Is there a website where these files can be acquired, or is
there
another
way to make this work. Without my CD drive, I'm helpless with
respect
to
loading new software.

Maverick

Use System File Checker to replace missing/corrupt system
files.
Type
the
following in the Run dialog box or Command Prompt:
sfc /scannow
Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File
Checker
(Sfc.exe)
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310747
If this does not solve your problem then can you confirm if
the
"devmgr.dll"
file is missing or not in this location?
c:\windows\system32

Thank you for your reply Ramesh, but that did not work
either.
I
have
attempted to use that command twice and each time I got the
same
message;
"The specified module could not be found"
Do you have any more ideas that can try. Your help is
truly
appreciated.
