I have an external CD and an external HD in remote cases
attached to two computer usb 2.0 ports. They should be
drive E and drive K.
But Windows Xp home does not see them or recognize their
existance.
How do I get these two devices to show in the "My
Computer" listing of HD CD and DVD devices on the
computer?

Right click on My Computer and select Manage. On the following screen,
click on Disk Management.

They should now appear on the right hand side of the screen from where you
can assign a drive letter.
