What is a device driver please? My laptop screen suddenly
changes to black and freezes. I have to completely shut
off computer and restart it. Error messages says something
about a device driver. The onnly hardware recently
installed is the notebook adapter for wireless internet.
Please help, I am going crazy with this. It always happens
suddenly.

A device driver is a piece of computer code called a driver that makes a
particular device function on your computer.

One quick way to find out if this is your notebook adaptor for wireless
internet causing the problem - remove the adaptor. If you remove the
adaptor - does the problems persist?

If yes: Then uninstall the software that you installed with the adaptor and
see if the problem still happens.

If no: Then the device driver that makes your adaptor work isn't working
well with Windows XP. From here, you might want to find the adatpor
manufacturer on the internet to get the latest device driver for your
adaptor. You also might want to try Windows Update.

good luck!
