"Details" no longer displays in the "Open Dialogue" box,
although this feature is selected. "Details" displays as
it should in the "Save In" box. I have reinstalled my
Office 2000 and clicked "Repair" but this has not resolved
the problem. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Thank you.

Hi Jo,

I doubt that this is going to answer your question, but ---

There is one possibility that I can think of but it is (very) unlikely
to be your problem, and that is that the details view is actually
displaying but one of the columns has somehow become so wide as to
fill the entire width of the dialog box.

As a test, I reduced the widths of all of my column headings except
"Name" to zero (by manipulating the column separators) and expanded
the "Name" column to fill the width of the dialog window. So I was no
longer seeing any information except names.

The process of returning the dialog box to its multi-column display I
find slightly tricky to describe so I won't attempt to do so unless
you think that this may be your problem. But I was able to do it. :)

If this is definitely not your problem (most likely), then if you can
supply a bit more information someone may be able to suggest a
solution.

To start with:
How are you invoking the Open dialog ? (I suppose it's not impossible
that a macro is intercepting the usual command and doing its own
thing)
What happens when you select the Details view - i.e. what do you see?
What happens when you select views other than Details?

Hope this is (or will be) of some help.

Regards.

Ed
