Destructive recovery

I am going to have to completely reinstall windows on my system as file
access is just getting slower and slower. I only have a dial up connection
though and getting all the updates both for windows and my Symantec security
package will take forever. Does anyone know if I can get a CD with the
updates on.

Also, are there any good guides to tell you what to save before I do it so
that setting up time is minimised?
