I am usually using Word in Vista. The typing fails to keep up and often
doesnt appear at all - in this note as well! Symantec say I do not have a
virus and uninstalling Word and reinstalling has not worked. Has anyone met
this problem? DB

Norton AV could be the problem - uncheck its Office plug-in.

With some versions of the Norton product it may be necessary to unregister
the office plug-in DLL by running the following command line from Windows >
Start > Run

regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton antivirus\officeav.dll"
or
regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton systemworks\norton
antivirus\officeav.dll"

Thank you Graham. I uninstalled Norton entirely but had increasing troubles
with getting writing to appear on the screen. No Norton made no difference. I
reinstalled norton. Eventually the keyboard failed entirely, no writing at
all appeared in Access, Excel, or Word, or filling up the logon to get in
here. And then, about to give up computers, I read the instructions.
Replace batteries in the keyboard!

Moral: When all else fails, read the instructions.

Sorry to have wasted everybody's time. DB

There was no need to uninstall Norton. That is not what I said! It is the
*office plug-in* that causes problems. However I am glad that you found a
simple cause for your problem.
