Desparately need help with MS Office 2003 Installation Issue

Hello. I am in deep sh*t and I have a deadline to complete by this
Monday. I am running XP Pro, Service Pack 3. I have been running
Offfice 2003 all this time with no problems. This morning I decided to
install Office 2007. I get through most of the installation, and then
it says I need to re-boot to complete. So I reboot, and it starts to
complete the installation. Then a Windows Installer window pops up
and says:

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is
unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternative path to a
folder containing the installation package "WINWORD.MSP" in the box
below

I am stuck here. No such files exists on my drive or in the
installation folder.

Now, I can't continue the install, and none of my prior office apps
work. I tried to run a Windows Installer clearn, but it won't
continue, but says that I already have an installer running.

Any tips?

Thanks,

Kris

Have you tried System Restore to go back to before your problematic
installation of Office 2007.

What was your position regarding this Hotfix for Office 2003?
Description of the Word 2003 hotfix package (Winword.msp): December 16,
2008
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960153
and this one
Description of the Outlook 2003 hotfix package (Outlook.msp,
Winword.msp): April 30, 2009
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/969300

Given your situation go for the System Restore option. If you get
problems come back here for advice. Trying the Hotfix solutions could
make you miss your deadline.

If it says you have an installer running, look in the Processes tab of
Task Manager for msiexec (that is the Windows installer). If you are
not in the middle of an installation, end the process. Only one can
run at a time. A fouled up installation can cause problems like this.

When you are sure no msiexec is running, try your install cleaner or
whatever it is again.
