How can I delete a desktop background picture that I
installed from a photo that I had in "my pictures folder"
without deleteing the picture from the "my picture
folder?"

Replace it with another...just right click any image
and choose..."Set as desktop background"...

Or...right click your Desktop and from the Menu...
choose...Properties / Desktop tab...choose None
from the list...or choose a different image from the
list. Then click...Apply / OK.

Neither of the above solutions will delete or move
your original file.
