on my desktop there is a stupid "tab" thing i have found
that when you go (in a folder) "tools->folder options"
then the general tab it is "show common tasks in folders"
fine IN folders just not on the desktop!!

how do i get rid of this annoyance??

Look under "C" for Remove Common Tasks From Desktop" on MVP Kelly's
excellent website:
