I have recently added a new user and have defaulted the my documents to this
new user. Unfortunately, the desktop still is defaulting to the ex employee
and will not allow me to delete her file in the documents and settings.

How can I default the desktop so when the new user logs in, she is looking
at her desktop..

If you have two accounts, accoutA & accountB, accountB's desktop won't be
accountA's desktop unless you have defaulted the desktop to be the all users
profile desktop.

You'll also need to log in as an administrator to delete the ex employees
account and their documents & settings folder.

More info needed. In the meantime, read this note:

The icons you seen the Desktop come from these two locations:

%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Desktop
%USERPROFILE%\Desktop

%ALLUSERSPROFILE% is the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users folder
%USERPROFILE% is C:\Documents and Settings\{Your User name}

The first location above is common to all the users, and any addition and
deletion of files will be seen by other users as well. The 2nd location is
specific to your profile only. Changes to the folder will not affect the
other accounts.
