Desktop Wallpaper

I am having trouble putting a wallpaper on my desktop. I
have tried everything I could. I've gone on a website,
right clicked the image I want, and clicked on 'Set as
Background'. This didn't work. I've downloaded an image
from the internet to my hardrive and then went into
properties to desktop appearance and doin this from there
but still nothing happened.

For some reason, in the appearance window, there is a
color option.. and whatever color is chosen on there is
what is on my desktop. I could change it a number of
times to a particular color and it would do it for me.
But when I actually pick a wallpaper from the internet or
even in the wallpaper list.. it wouldn't do anything for
me.

Can you please help????

put some Elmer's on your desk top first.
