Desktop Speakers

Why is there no sound coming from my 2 desktop speakers?
They are connected properly but the only sounds I get are
from my internal monitor speakers. How do I get sounds
from my external desktop speakers? All of the settings
under Volume appear to be enabled and none of them are
muted.
 
plug your new speakers into the port where your monitor
speakers are connected to
