Desktop shortcuts to Excel files

Is it possible to use one of your own graphics instead of
the automatic Excel graphic when using a desktop shortcut
to an Excel file? I have numerous Excel file shortcuts on
my desktop and, of course, they all have the same
graphic. It would be so useful if I could apply my own
graphic instead of the Excel graphic. For instance, I
have a travel file and a graphic of an airplane would make
so much more sense. Any help would be much appreciated.

Right-click on the Shortcut, select Properties, click on Change Icon.
Select an Icon to use and apply.

When you create a shortcut to an Excel file you cannot
just right click on it and select "Change Icon" - that
option is not presented......

That's correct, first you need to do what I said.

Right-click on the Short-cut
Select Properties.
Now on the bottom of the Shortcut Tab (which the properties page should
have opened to) there is a "Change Icon" button.

If this is not so, what options do you have? What Tabs and Buttons are
there when you select Properties?
