How do I get the desktop shortcut in the taskbar?
First, note that you can not get *any* shortcut in the Task Bar. The Task
Bar holds icons for running programs, not shortcuts.
What you presumably meant to ask is how can you get the "Show Desktop"
shortcut into the Quick Launch toolbar. Note that, despite what many people
think, it is not itself *part* of the Task Bar, but is a separate tool bar.
The Quick Launch tool bar appears *on* the Task Bar by default, but can be
dragged off the Task Bar entirely and docked on another side of the screen.
So, to get the "Show Desktop" shortcut into the Quick Launch toolbar, create
a text file in Notepad as follows:
[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop
Save it as Show Desktop.scf then drag it to the Quick launch bar.
Or just click on this link:

Also note that you can show the desktop with a keyboard shortcut: the
combination of the Windows key + D or the Windows key + M.
