Desktop vanished! How can I get my desktop back?

There are a no icon or link or shortcuts on my desktop. They are still in
the desktop folder, but nothing on the screen but my background picture.

My computer booted that way this morning, how can I get them back?

This is XP SP3

Why you are you posting your SAME message again 3-1/2 hours later?

Because he is using the Web interface which has been screwed up a la royal for the
last 3 days. They fix it and it is broken again within 1 hr
