Desktop shortcut icons won't stay put

My shortcut icons on my desktop started rearranging themselves. This happened
before & Dell software support did something to fix it but it's doing it
again. Any ideas what to do to keep them where I place them?

Erin,

Open Regedit.exe and go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Backup the key to a REG file, using the File-Export option.

In the right-pane, delete the "NoSaveSettings" value if found.

Close Regedit.exe
