Desktop Icons will not stay where I put them

I am running Windows XP Pro. This may not seem like a very big problem but it
is driving mr bananas....
I have tried everything I know how to get my desktop icons to stay in the
places that I put them in to no avail...as soon as I reboot they go right
back to the way they were before. I have tried locking my desktop and the
"arrange icons" choices -and ge the same thing.....does anyone know how to
arrange the icons the way you want them and have them stay where you put
them? Thanks

Hi lightbulb02,

Right-click, a blank area on the Desktop. Highlight Arrange Icons By and then click to remove the checkmark next to Auto Arrange. Also do the same for Lock Web Items on Desktop, remove the checkmark.

Hi Lightbulb02,

Run your Anti-Virus Scanner by doing a Manual Scan. See if you have a Virus.

Hi lightbulb02,

Okay! Try this program, if you don't already have it. TuneUp Utilities 2006 which you can download from this link:
http://www.tune-up.com/

It is a fully functional program and comes with a 30-day free Trial. See if this helps you. Remember to delete all files and sub-folders of your \Temp folders before you clean out your Windows Registry.
