If I am in the wrong NG please let me know. (as the choices in the window
when using OE do not match the choices when accessing newsgroups on the web
browser, and this was the closest match).

When I last wrote in the reply (or part of it), went something like this:
"Are either of you behind a router? You will need to forward port 3389."

So both myself and my friend did what we had to to ensure port 3389 was open
and accepting mail from our repective inside ip addresses, he then sent me a
request for help via e-mail. I opened the attached file as instructed and
edited the ip address e.g. 192.168.*.* to his real IP addy, and still we
cannot connect, and only the xp (pro version sp2) firewall is enabled. Have
I/we missed something?

Boy!! Was this easier when netmeeting ran the show! LOL

Thanks for the help in advance,

Doug

What's the error message? Can you telnet port 3389?

I don't use any telnet software so I cannot answer that question, (and the "original" message i had received originally I no longer get since I have "forwarded port 3389") yet I can tell you what the new message reads:

"A Remote Assistance connection could not be establishsd. You may want to check for network issues or determine if the invitation expired or was cancelled by the person who sent it."

I get the above message on 2 different connection methods: One is where he sends request for R.A. via e-mail, and the second is when he sends me the request in my Windows Live Messenger text chat box, and we both have exact same version.

What's the error message? Can you telnet port 3389?
