Desktop Search won't work with Outlook 2003

I run Office 2003. I've tried loading Windows Desktop search. It will not
index anything in Outlook.

I'm aware that Outlook must be opened in order for the search to run.
However, even when I have Outlook open, if I go to Windows Search Options in
Desktop Search, the only locations listed are Local Disc (c):, and Outlook
Express. Outlook itself is simply not recognized.

I also know that the problem is not a corrupt .pst file. I have Outlook on
my laptop but do not use it very often other than occasionally for e-mail
when on the road, so rather than doing any elaborate syncing I just overwrite
my laptop .pst file with my desktop .pst every couple of weeks so my
contacts are relatively current. So basically, I have the same Outlook .pst
file on both machines, and Windows Desktop Search properly indexes the .pst
file on my laptop.

I recently tested Outlook 2007, and when I did then Desktop search
recognized Outlook without a problem. Outlook 2007 did not meet my needs,
however, so I unloaded it and went back to Outlook 2003. When I did, Desktop
Search again stopped working.

Any suggestions?
