Desktop Question

Is it possible to create an icon in the system tray which will reveal
all of the usual desktop icons in one simple click, or hide them all so
that the desktop is clear?

What I am using to do this so far is a multistep process:
Rt. click Desktop>Arrange Icons By>Show Desktop Icons

I know that you can Rt. click System Tray>Toolbars>Desktop
and have the word Desktop appear in the system tray, but when you click
the word Desktop, you get a whole list of the icons and their titles,
but not the restored large desktop icons.

Any ideas on how to improve this so I have a one-click way to hide or
restore my large icon desktop? TIA.

Why not just put all your icons on the quick launch toolbar and set it to
auto-hide? Right click on the toolbar>properties>check auto hide.

Well, I have about 60 icons on the desktop. Plus, I like the taskbar to
be shown all the time. Since I'm using Webshots, I really would like to
be able to enjoy the photos without seeing the icons all over the
wallpaper.

You can right click on the desktop, arrange icons by, show desktop. This
will remove the icons. Reverse the procedure to get the icons back. AFAIK
there is no "faster" way to do it. Only other suggestion I can think of is
to use the same desktop image as a screen saver and set the time as you
like.

That's the best I can come up with.

Thanks, Bruce. I was hoping there might be a route I could install to do
this in one step, but since I'm not a programmer, I would need help to
do it.
